Careers Morning in Bridgerule!
On Thursday 12th March, children from Bridgerule, Bradford and Black Torrington Primary Schools were introduced to members of their community in the first Holsworthy Federation Careers Morning for primary aged children.
Members of the local business and education communities, past and present, were invited along to Bridgerule Village Hall to spend a morning with Y5 and Y6 students. The students had been marking National Careers Week in their schools with a range of activities; they then had an opportunity to ask questions about careers, qualifications and skills when meeting the gathered community mentors!
The local community responded with great enthusiasm and more than twenty-five professionals gave their time to come and talk to the students, encouraging them to follow their interests and passions, and become involved in their local community as a way of building confidence and expanding horizons.
Many of the professional commented on the positive attitudes of the children and expressed a wish to be involved with a primary careers project again as they felt that inspiring students at a younger age would be beneficial.
