This week in maths, the children had lots of fun exploring 2D and 3D shapes! They sorted them into groups and even used them to create colourful repeating patterns. In history, we took a trip back in time to discover what beach holidays were like during the Victorian era. The children loved comparing these holidays to the ones we enjoy today and sharing their ideas. In English, our Year 1 and Year 2 writers have been busy planning their own imaginative stories inspired by the beautiful book Dadaji’s Paintbrush. We can’t wait to see their creativity shine in the final pieces!

This week in Class 1, we’ve created beautiful robin-themed Christmas cards to send to Southlands and decorated baubles for the Christmas Tree Festival in the chapel. It’s been wonderful to see the children listening so carefully to instructions and adding their own creative touches to make each piece unique. These activities have linked perfectly with the Year 1 and Year 2 work on writing instructions in English.
Our Reception children have loved exploring the story of Stick Man in Drawing Club, and we’ve also been practising for our Nativity next Tuesday afternoon. A huge thank you to everyone who has been helping the children learn their lines at home—we can’t wait to share this special performance with you!

It’s been wonderful to see everyone back in school this week and hear about all the fun things you enjoyed during the holidays.
Our Reception children have dived into an exciting two-week topic all about castles, knights, and dragons! On Friday, they worked brilliantly as a team to build a spectacular junk-model castle – what amazing creativity!
In PSHE, we’ve been reflecting on the special people in our lives. The children created beautiful cards to show their appreciation.
Here’s to more fun and learning in the weeks ahead!

What an Exciting Day at the Zoo!
On Wednesday, Class 1 had an amazing adventure at the zoo! The children were full of excitement as we spent the morning exploring and discovering all sorts of fascinating animals. One of the highlights was arriving at the otter enclosure just in time to watch them being fed. The zookeeper shared a fun fact with us: to keep the otters entertained, their fish was hidden inside a 3D shape—what a clever idea!
In History we have been learning about travel into space and it was lovely to hear the facts they remembered! In Maths, the year 2 children have been finishing their topic on Money and are eager to dive into our new topic on multiplication next week. The Year 1 children are working hard on addition and subtraction with numbers up to 20, while our Reception children have been practising writing, recognising, and ordering numbers to 20.
It’s wonderful to see their enthusiasm for learning both inside and outside the classroom!
